Dream for the New Year

"PINK"
This is MY dream  for the New Year! Wow I can't believe this year has almost come to an end.  I hope you are all had a wonderful Christmas time with family and friends and I hope you are all looking to making the New Year as happy and healthy as you possibly can.   I hope you have time to spend with your loved ones and to make every moment count.  Make memories that you can hold onto for the rest of your lives and put your heart and soul into every little thing that you do together.  Live each moment like you are living it for the first time and share your love for whatever it be , like it could be the last.  Let's make the world a better place together.

I wanted to share some of my portraits that I painted this past year that I am quite proud of.  I hope you enjoy taking another peek with me.  I still have a few for sale and if you are interested in purchasing any of these paintings  please leave me a message .

Springing into new beginnings!

These little guys make me happy!
It's official I have a little garden planted and I am keeping my fingers crossed that the snails don't take it over.   This is the first year in a very long time that I have a space to plant some color !  My husband took out a bricked area and made a new path to my studio , which gave me room to dig in the soil.  I am thrilled because it was perfect  for planting.  I want an abundance of color to inspire me in painting and make me SMILE.  So far I am smiling!
Being a grandmother of two adorable little ones  I want to keep the garden tradition going.  My grandma always had a beautiful garden with rows of Iris, tomatoes , fruit trees, etc.    I am hoping by mid summer there will be cut flowers for me to bring indoors.    I have been checking it daily to see if  anything sprouting up and the last couple of days has proven to be productive.   I am so excited !
Until next time,

A Sunny Day at Avila Beach

Yesterday my husband and I visited his home town for lunch and little walk on the beach.  It was such a beautiful day! I got the usual tour talk from him about how things used to be,  who lived where &  who did what.  I have heard  the same stories for so many years.  I now know them by heart.   I will never tire of them though, I just listen.   My husband was  born and raised in this small community. His family were his neighbors and his neighbors were like family.
I grew up in a neighboring town and remember the good old days as a teenager (before dear hubby), making my way to the beach with my best girl friends to bake in the sun, play frisbee  and boy watch.  I was probably watching him and didn't realize it! Every time we go there it brings back so many fun memories of childhood and family gatherings.
Being inspired by the warm sun on my back and a new Nordstrom catalogue in the mail advertising sandals when we got home, I got carried away in my art journal to paint this little number! It was just perfect for how I felt about our day at the beach. If only I look as good as my little model!   Hands, feet, the whole pose is all so new to me. It's like putting a puzzle together.  Need to keep practicing!

Stepping into a new territory, I will fill you in on that later!  By the way, the swelling in my ankles have really gone down! Can you tell?

Until next time...

Little Studio tour with my Friends

Merry Christmas friends and family!  Enjoy a little tour of my clean studio!
Music "You've got a friend in me"  by Randy Newman.   I am having fun playing with these little videos!  I promise they will improve as time goes on!  Hopefully...

P.S.  Looks clearer small scale,  I need to figure out how to set it for larger view.  Sorry...just get you spectacles on!

The Hope Flag Project

Yesterday while visiting Sharon Thomlinson blog I was inspired to join in on "The Hope Flag Project"  .  I just finished my flags and will go out this afternoon or in the morning!  Hopefully they will get there in time.
The following is a "copy and paste" from The Hope Flag Project on Facebook

The “rules” and frequently asked questions
-This is about hope & good wishes, not about any specific religion, or even praying if that is not a part of your life. It is about showing that we care. If you want to include a prayer, wonderful, but it is not required. This was an issue with en of the schools participating, so we are now calling them hope flags. Sheesh.
-Your flag can be made out of any cloth material... An old piece of clothing, an old sheet, canvas,- you don’t need to go out & buy anything.

-When you finish, the size of each flag should be about 5” wide by 8” long- so that the chain remains uniform in size. Please sew or glue the top of the flag over, leaving a one inch gap so that I can run a string through it- SO THE TOATAL MEASUREMENT OF YOUR FABRIC BEFORE YOU BEGIN SHOULD BE 5 INCHES WIDE BY 9 INCHES LONG. Sorry for the initial confusion about this. This project is about love, not about exact measurements! Some people are sending triangular flags b/c they don't have time to make new ones, I will be including everything that I get, no matter what size. It will be beautiful!

-You can make them as simple or elaborate as you’d like. You can paint on it, write on it, sew on it, make a little heart in the center- anything goes EXCEPT please refrain from addressing the person who caused this or the names of the victims. This is about hope & I think it’s a good idea to keep it as positive as possible.

-Please make sure these get to me by January 2nd. If they do not arrive by then, they will not make it to the school, & probably won’t be mailed back to you.

You can make flags until the cows come home, please make as many as you’d like.

-I would love to photograph each one, but I’m not sure how much time I will have for that. Please take a picture of your flag before you mail it off. Feel free to post it on this page.

-Please don't send me any money! Many of the families have facebook pages where you can donate directly to them. I'm going to cover the postage to Newtown, & I've already bought art supplies for the kids who are making flags here. I'm fine with that & would love for the parents or town to get the money instead.

-I would prefer that you post any questions that you still have here on this page, instead of sending a private message or email.

-Please send the flags here...

Heart Pod Pendant

Oh I know... This is sooo crazy!  I am actually blogging again and it's just been a few days!   I am crazy/ frantic trying to finish up projects before the New Year comes!

My hair dresser gave me this heart shaped pod to make something into several months ago.  I just haven't been in the mood for making jewelry lately, but I just  got inspired today and here it is, finally finished.  I am keeping my fingers crossed she will like it , we shall see...  Hope everyone is having a fun time fussing around with preparations for the seasons festivities!!!
fa la la la la,
I wondered what would become of the butterfly .  It made a nice stable attachment for the chain and just landed there perfectly.
I really like they way the butterfly is only visible in the front.

Happiness

The sum of happiness is made up of a thousand details. A little kindness done one less fortunate gives the heart a beat of pleasure that no millinery or laces or jewels can possibly inspire.
To overcome prejudice is more satisfying than a ten-course dinner.
To subdue a difficulty and smother a selfish disire is to become strong and splendid.
If life is worth living at all, it is worth living in a state of progress and improvement.
If we moan and groan, filling the air with dissatisfaction and gloom, we can scarcely hope to partake of much contentment.
All you need is a good thump on the back by some cheerful soul who has faith in you, and promise to yourself that you will face your work and your worries cheerfully,-(Selected)
