Flea Market Finds

Hey there!  Just thought a change of pace was in order here in my little part of blog land.  Wouldn't you love to see what I have been collecting lately? Well, be my guest!!! :)

I've heard that every picture tells a story and this one could do just that! Tell me what do you see?

Gatherings from a number of many resources!

I am getting excited about the assemblages and altered pieces that can be produced from these lovely finds!

Do you see what I see?

I know...I've shown you my signs before, but aren't they fun!

Who doesn't love a red bird cage here and there and everywhere?

Are you getting ready for a walk down the isle?  Look what I found!!!  I purchased this beautiful wedding dress from an estate sale a few weeks ago.  I saw it hanging in the closet and I had to have it.  It told a story to me and I couldn't leave it behind.  It is all Satin with beautiful embroidery and lots of little satin covered buttons.  The bride that wore this dress had a tiny little waist and from the stains around the bottom of skirt she danced on a wooden or dirt floor.
So, Should it be cleaned or left to tell her story?

The old portable "Singer" sewing machine below belonged to the bride that wore the satin wedding dress.  I wonder if she made it herself ?

The little Jr. typewriter below also belonged to our mystery bride.  I am sure she typed many a love letters to her groom on it, or he to her.
Sweet...and it works.

Need some polishing?  I would say so.
Cute little tea cart too! :)

Kerosene lights could still come in handy don't you think?

Well,  I hope you enjoyed my flea market finds ,as much as I enjoyed sharing them with you.
Have a beautiful day and come back for a visit soon.
See ya,

Great finds Steff! How fun is that? Love the silver and dress, and the typewriter. Our grand kids won't know what that is one day! Hugs, Riki

HOly MOly! What a haul! Can't wait to see you incorporate some of it into your jewelry. Wouldn't it be great if you could shrink down the birdcage to necklace size? :-)

The wedding dress is awesome and the fact that the singer belonged to her too and that she could have made it is really interesting. It's really amazing to try to figure out her story.
very cool.

Happiness

The sum of happiness is made up of a thousand details. A little kindness done one less fortunate gives the heart a beat of pleasure that no millinery or laces or jewels can possibly inspire.
To overcome prejudice is more satisfying than a ten-course dinner.
To subdue a difficulty and smother a selfish disire is to become strong and splendid.
If life is worth living at all, it is worth living in a state of progress and improvement.
If we moan and groan, filling the air with dissatisfaction and gloom, we can scarcely hope to partake of much contentment.
All you need is a good thump on the back by some cheerful soul who has faith in you, and promise to yourself that you will face your work and your worries cheerfully,-(Selected)
