Idyllwild Metals Week

Metals week in Idyllwild went by so fast, but I guess that anytime you are having fun that is the way it goes. Fast!  I can't wait till next year! :) I met alot of wonderful people, enjoyed the peace and tranquility that the surroundings had to offer and learned so many new techniques.

This is a little blurry, but maybe you can see how I  trapped the beads.
Mom had a wonderful time too. She walked me to class every morning , told me to have a "good day",and met me in cafeteria for lunch and dinners.

There was always someone interesting to visit with during meals.   We took long walks and actually came home inspired to keep it up.  So far... so good.

This is Virginia a really sweet soul that mom and I had lunch with everyday.  Hope to keep in touch Virginia!

Class with Joanna  Gollberg was  incredible  and she is not only a wonderful teacher ,but a very sweet person. I would love to take more classes from her in the future.  Hope she comes back to California soon.    There where the most amazing and talented gals in this class too and I admire each and every one of them .  I was probably the least experienced person in class, but that didn't seem to matter.  Joanna was able to adjust her lessons  so that we all got what we needed to make our individual projects successful. By the way, if you haven't bought yourself a new inspiration book lately, I highly recommend "The Ultimate Jeweler's Guide by Joanna Gollberg.  For me it is just what I needed.  Thanks Joanna! It even makes alot more sense to me now that I have taken a class from her.  Psst....Joanna signed my book!  Yeah!   This is a picture taken on the last day of  class.

(Nancy Jo, Virginia, Me, Janice, Lola, Joanna & Mary!)

All metals week projects  were put on display for  show and tell  after our last class. Fun..., it was nice to see what everyone had worked so hard on all week. :)
Here are a few pictures of  the pieces that I made will I was there.

The bracelet on the right was my first piece in class and I almost gave up, but I finally got it done!  Since I've been home a made a necklace to wear with it (below).

Alot of pottery going on up in the mountains!
One last piece to show you for now,  I couldn't wait to make my own chain!

Well wadduya think?
If you stop by please leave me a comment I would love to hear from you.
Stephani :)

VERY fun Steff! Love the necklace you made to go with the bracelet. The prong settings are very cool. Looks like the workshop was inspiring, fun and social. What more can you ask for? That is so cool. Miss you! Hugs, Riki

WOWSERS! I am so very impressed with what you learned. I, too, love (did I say love) the crystal necklace you designed to go with your crystal bracelet... a knock out. I am so glad that you had fun and got a shot of inspiration.

Hi Stephani,
Thank you so much for a wonderful class yesterday. I love my Portal of Love piece and my mind is already swimming with ideas on how to incorporate these ideas into other pieces. Thank You so much for a great day with you. I read on a jewelry site that a UV Lamp can be used to dry resin "in a fraction of the time", What do you think? Let me know if you ever try it. Creativity brings Joy and Excitement to those around you and you are a leader of the pack. Thanks again Lorna West

Happiness

The sum of happiness is made up of a thousand details. A little kindness done one less fortunate gives the heart a beat of pleasure that no millinery or laces or jewels can possibly inspire.
To overcome prejudice is more satisfying than a ten-course dinner.
To subdue a difficulty and smother a selfish disire is to become strong and splendid.
If life is worth living at all, it is worth living in a state of progress and improvement.
If we moan and groan, filling the air with dissatisfaction and gloom, we can scarcely hope to partake of much contentment.
All you need is a good thump on the back by some cheerful soul who has faith in you, and promise to yourself that you will face your work and your worries cheerfully,-(Selected)
